Satirical artist Bansky, in collaboration with other artists of the same twisted taste all over the world opened a “bemusement park” called Dismaland.
Before you get excited, Dismaland was just a temporary art project and not a full-fledged amusement park. It’s no longer available today.
Banksy described their parody of Disneyland as a “family theme park unsuitable for children.”
Dismaland opened to the public in August 2015 and operated for just 36 days before finally closing for good.
4,000 tickets were available for distribution per day. Each ticket was sold at a very low price of $3 each.
Dismaland aimed to provide a dark and sinister twist to Disneyland, which it achieved in most parts.
A lot of celebrities like Brad Pitt, Jack Black, Neil Patrick Harris and Nicholas Hoult visited Dismaland just for the heck of it.
Not all visitors were amused though as the bemusement park received mixed receptions from visitors.
Jonathan Jones found it depressing.
Jones further stated that Dismaland “brings together a lot of bad art by the seaside.”
While others praised it for being unique and full of funny sarcasm.
